- This case was not about the legalization of pot. Pot was just a tiny part of it. It just happened that there was a pot grow being investigated where Bassler was encountered.

- When people consume substances that destroy the part of the brain (frontal lobes) that make them human (executive function) and they can no longer regulate their actions or control themselves..then I would say what they have consumed has made them become what they "are".

- Councilman Melo wasn't on that property where he was killed-as a Councilman but as a security guard (his other part-time job). He was employed by the company that owned the land (as was the other victim).

- I meant to add that people who knew him said he had been taking both alcohol and psilocybin (mushrooms) as well as acid for a long time along with pot). His one friend was interviewed on a local station and had tried to get him to stop them. Bassler told him it was too late.
